This video articulates quite well some things that I feel very strongly about.
Many of the objections that I’ve heard raised against the Christian faith are really objections to religious moralism or issues of church culture or nominal Christianity – not the Gospel of Jesus. A critical part of understanding the Gospel from within our culture is to clarify the nature of the true Gospel and show how it is both different and better than religion and it’s culture.

I think there are some deep roots in Australia back to our convict days. Condemned and rejected people were sent here. Social reform and moral revolution were indeed a big emphasis for the churches following the revivals in England – at the time when people were being sent here. Many Australians only know about religion from their Catholic primary schooling. And following rules to make yourself a good person has always been easier than getting to know a person. Mind you, getting to know a person who is holy and just is quite a brave thing to do(!)
Great points from an Australian perspective. Thanks.
If I were a Youth Group leader, i would think, “I just got my plan for Friday night…”
