Sometimes the details of our busy lives seem overwhelmingly large. It’s easy to lose perspective. I love the feeling of ‘self forgetfulness’ that comes when we are caught up in something much bigger than ourselves. We get tastes of this when we admire the spectacular view of a canyon or valley from a cliff top. We are shrunk back down to size by the glory that surrounds us.
The video below is just such a reminder. Considering our place within the context of the universe is extremely humbling. It also points to the God behind the complexity and wonder of the creation. Most astonishing of all is the Bible’s claim that the God who made the universe invites us to know Him personally through Jesus Christ.

Another side to “centre of the universe…..
We made some friends in New Zealand a few years ago. He was into astronomy in a big way.
He had a great slide show he had prepared from pictures taken by hubble – in the show, he outlined some size comparisons and distances between objects in the universe etc… it had the same effect as this short on your blog.
THEN…. he had some microscopic images in the presentation. Objects so SMALL it stagerred the mind!
He ended his little presentation by saying; “When you arrange all the objects in the universe on a scale line, atomic to cosmic, we humans sit in about the middle….. Just where God seems to place us – the centre of his affections.

G’day D,
I’ve seen a similar presentation of images from Hubble. Fantastic! The microscopic world is incredible as well. DNA code blows my mind.
Thanks for the comment!
